Each one of our boards come in a beautiful gift box that will surely surprise and delight your gift recipient! Repurposing our gift box is highly encouraged! A little bird told us our flat boxes are perfect for storing things underneath beds. Our boards are a lovely addition to any kitchen decor, for the home chef, for cutting or for charcuterie and cheese board displays.

Sonder LA boards uplevel every kitchen or dining room they're in! All of our designs are original and start on paper. Functionality and aesthetics are equally as important when it comes to design. Passionate for design, we quickly ran into a dead end when searching for a beautiful, functional, yet affordable cutting board. We wanted a board to use every day, to entertain with, and to display proudly in our kitchen.

When we failed to find the perfect board, we decided to create it ourselves! Our goal is to create thoughtful products that elevate your everyday and enhance the way you live. It will need regular oiling every 3 weeks. Before oiling your board, make sure it's clean and completely dry. Start with a few ounces of oil and spread evenly over the entire board using your dish towel. Make sure to rub the oil on the sides and grooves of the board, adding more oil as needed.

Flip the board over and repeat on the reverse side. Leave the oil to absorb into the wood for several hours, or overnight. Wipe off any remaining oil using a dry, clean cloth, so the board does not feel greasy. Each design takes up to 10 months to prototype and test before it gets to you! We are the inventors of the first reversible cutting board with a cracker well on the charcuterie board side.

We tested with over 17 different types of crackers and breads, and introduced it in 2017! We believe products should be aesthetically engaging and displayed rather than hidden away. We are workaholics; Sonder LA is our baby! We are 100% committed to customer happiness.

Wood is a durable sustainable decision for beautifully functional kitchen decor. We choose wood over bamboo or plastic for a few reasons.

Plastic is not sustainable, and is easily damaged and gouged. Bamboo is sustainable due to its fast growth, but not durable. Further, as a type of grass, it is much harder than most hardwoods, and it will dull even the highest quality knife. Can I wash my board or bread box in the dishwasher? All wooden cutting boards should be hand washed with a sponge or a rag; do not soak or submerge in water. Avoid using cooking oils to condition your board as they can become rancid.

How frequently should your Sonder LA wooden board be oiled? Don't wait until your cutting board is dry to oil it. Regular treatments of food grade mineral oil or beeswax every 3 weeks are key to the longevity of your board. Lack of oiling can cause unwanted issues like warping, cracking, & bacterial growth. My boards are showing knife marks - help!

Knife marks are actually good because it means that your cutting board is not harder than your knife. Wood cutting boards are the only durable material that will protect both the knife and countertop.

Treat with oil to help blend the knife marks. How do I handle unintended odors or stains on my board from items like fish or beets? For odors, after a gentle cleaning with soap and water, treat your board to a lemon cleanse.

For stains, treat your board to an effervescent lemon and baking soda spot clean. Be sure to oil your board after treating it to one of the cleanses above. Will my board look exactly like the pictures on the listing? The beauty of wood products is that they come from Mother Nature; therefore, every board will have its own unique grain and color. It will not be identical but it will be similar--your board is one of a kind!
